As the world surges, PM Modi chairs a Covid review meeting to evaluate preparation.

COVID-19

Today, the coronavirus situation in India was discussed at an urgent meeting that the prime minister, Narendra Modi, presided over. The gathering takes place as instances in many nations, including China, Japan, and the US, are increasing at an alarming rate.

Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Health Minister, Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, Rajesh Bhushan, the Health Secretary, and Dr. VK Paul of the Niti Aayog were all present at the meeting by video call. The Health Secretary gave a thorough presentation on Covid readiness. The gathering takes place the day after Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Health Minister, evaluated the situation and urged people to act in a Covid-appropriate manner, including donning masks in crowded locations and getting immunized.

The BF.7 variant, a new subvariant of the Omicron strain that has been responsible for the sharp increase in infections in China since July, has been linked to four Covid-19 cases in India. Three cases have been reported from Gujarat, while one case from Odisha has been confirmed. All four patients, who had either no symptoms or only minor symptoms, are now well. The number of coronavirus infections in India decreased to 3,402 active cases while 185 new infections were recorded, according to figures provided on Thursday by the Union Health Ministry.
