According to Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday, the domestic sector has the potential and ability to produce the newest defense platforms, and the government is doing all possible to support them in this endeavor.
Speaking at an event, Singh stated that the Centre's commitment to providing the armed forces with indigenously developed cutting-edge weapons/platforms is demonstrated by the publication of three positive indigenization lists totaling 310 items and encouraging the private sector to participate in the nation's growth story. According to him, defense exports, which were previously $1,900 billion, have already surpassed $13,000 billion. By 2025, we can produce 1.75 lakh crores worth of defense goods, including 35,000 crores worth of exports. He also emphasized the need of developing Atmanirbhar Bharat and self-reliance.
The first indigenous aircraft carrier in the nation, INS Vikrant, which has 76% indigenous components, was cited by Singh as "an significant milestone in India's road to achieving self-reliance."
"India not only satisfies that need, but it also raises the possibility that this transition in manufacturing may give the whole global economy a fresh boost. The epicenter of world optimism is India. Our purpose is to protect national interests while also assisting our friendly nations in achieving their objectives. 'Make in India, Make for the World' is the stated vision."
